I’ve had quite a few debates with editors and various other people over the correct spelling of the word yeah. It is not y-a-y. That is the cheer, as in “Yay! Meatballs again.” And it’s not y-a, as in “Ya’ know”—or the contraction for you. But some people remain unconvinced and I think the best way to illustrate the point is to listen very carefully to the way the word is pronounced in Fargo. Enjoy.
By the by, I put this lovely little posting in Meme Safari because Andy Balo over at waxy.org says he’s identified a new meme—the supercut. And even though it technically doesn’t fit the supercut mememold, I’m just going to mention the Vader Sessions again because it’s still hilarious.

Economist John Gray points out that capitalism comes in many colors and that the particular brand of capitalism that the US is fairly obsessed with (namely unregulated free markets) is going to cause some serious problems in the near future as it becomes less and less regulated — and no longer by our choice.

On January 5th of this year Bill Gates, in an interview with CNET made a statement that irked quite a few people. After the interviewer asked Mr. Gates if he thought intellectual property laws should be reformed, Mr. Gates replied,
“No, I’d say that of the world’s economies, there’s more that believe in intellectual property today than ever. There are fewer communists in the world today than there were. There are some new modern-day sort of communists who want to get rid of the incentive for musicians and moviemakers and software makers under various guises. They don’t think that those incentives should exist.”
